Surplus property is tangible property that is no longer of use to any County department because it is obsolete, uneconomical to repair, or valued only for its base contents. Surplus property may include anything from office supplies and furniture to vehicles and heavy equipment.
On occasion, the County offers surplus items to the public per Del Norte County Code Section 2.33.30 E. Before releasing any surplus property, the County of Del Norte makes every attempt to reuse and/or reassign the property to another department within the County, or another government entity. If we are unable, we have several methods of disposition available to us.
Some items are sold to the public at online auctions, and other items are sold at public sales held on an as needed basis.
For more information about the surplus property, and how County property becomes designated as surplus, please contact the County of Del Norte, Administration Office at (707) 464-7214.
The County of Del Norte is now utilizing an online auction website to auction off selected surplus items. As County owned equipment becomes designated as surplus, this equipment will be listed on www.publicsurplus.com
These online auctions last for 10 to 21 days and anyone is welcome to bid. You can view items without registering, but registration with a valid email address is required to bid on items. All items are sold AS IS with no warranty or returns available.
