Building Inspection

The Building Inspection Division of the Community Development Department is responsible for the review and processing of permits for construction activities regulated by the 2019 California Building Code and Title 24 of the California Code of Regulations as adopted by the State of California and as modified by Del Norte County. Other applicable codes are the Health and Safety Code, the Business and Professions Code, the California Administrative Code and other codes relevant to public health and safety regarding structures. The Building Inspection Division also provides assistance to the public prior to and as part of a permit. The Division also provides plan checking for compliance with applicable codes prior to authorization to begin work.

The Building Inspection Division’s Permitting Portal offers online permitting for some types of building permits including: demolition, doors, electrical, gas line, mechanical, minor modifications to existing structures, plumbing, propane tank, reroof, rot repair, siding, and windows.
